About Us

KIAS is a major endowed research institute based at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. KIAS will facilitate transformational interdisciplinary and comparative research at the highest level nationally and internationally, guided by the ideals set forth by the founding benefactors, and the purpose of research and learning at the University of Alberta, articulated by President Henry Marshall Tory in 1908: “the Uplifting of the Whole People.”

Tomorrow's Ideas, Now is the first major international, interdisciplinary undergraduate research conference in the social sciences, humanities, and fine arts to be held at the University of Alberta. This conference will bring together the next great minds to discuss socially relevant issues, working in the KIAS established research themes. This conference will set the stage for undergraduate research for future students, and showcase what advanced work these students are capable of.
